KOSOVO: FURTHER ATTACKS ON ORTHODOX SITES
An
Orthodox church in Pristina attacked in May was again stoned late
on 26 June, while tombstones in an Orthodox graveyard in Kosovska
Vitina have been destroyed. "This latest wave of attacks
is further proof that Albanian extremists are using all means
to intimidate and throw out of Kosovo the remaining Serbian population,
while the international community is doing little to prevent it,"
Fr Sava (Janjic), deputy abbot of the Decani Monastery, told Forum
18 News Service. After the May attack on St Nicholas' Church,
KFOR spokesman Garry Bannister-Green told Forum 18 that "KFOR
deplores all such acts of mindless vandalism". He denied
that removing the KFOR guard had threatened the church's security.

MORE TOMBS DESECRATED AT THE ORTHODOX CEMETERY IN VITINA
According to Fr. Dragan Kojic the situation of the Serb community
in Vitina has not improved and is in fact much worse than before.
Presently only 150 Serbs live in the town and a few families have
already announced that they would have to leave their homes due
to pressures and threats from local Albanians.
TWO
ANALYSES OF THE KOSOVO STATUS ISSUE:
POLITIKA
- INDEPENDENT KOSOVO AND METOHIJA IS NOT SOLUTION, Fr. Sava
It is very difficult to believe that a happy society of Albanians
and Serbs will be established with the formation of an independent
state. It is far more realistic that the proclamation of the independence
of Kosovo and Metohija would only speed up the exodus and agony
of the Serb people. Following the same logic, shouldn't we expect
Spain to renounce the Basque Provinces, France to renounce Corsica
and Italy to renounce the south Tyrol? Serious European countries
don't solve problems of this sort by territorial amputation.
ANALYSIS: GAMES SURROUNDING KOSOVO, By Srdja Trifkovic
In Washington the consensus among political analysts, including
those who oppose any change in Kosovo's status, is that these
pro-Albanian lobbyists intend to package Kosovo's independence
in "realpolitical" terms in their pitch to the Bush
administration.

GREATER
ALBANIA EXPLAINED by Carl Savich
The Greater Albania ideology emerged and crystallized with the 1878
League of Prizren. This policy has continued for over a century.
The Greater Albania strategy seeks to annex and gain control of
territories inhabited by ethnic Albanians even in areas where Albanians
are a minority. These "Albanian lands", the Serbian province
of Kosovo-Metohija, the Southern Serbia region made up of the Medvedja,
Presevo, and Bujanovac areas, southern Montenegro, northern Greece
made up of the Janina area, Chameria in the Greater Albania lexicon,
and, western Macedonia, Illirida in the Greater Albania nomenclature.

THE GREATER ALBANIA IDEOLOGY AND THE MACEDONIAN CONFLICT
The objective and goal of the Albanian "Insurgency" or
terrorist war in Macedonia is to implement the federalization plan,
the partition of Macedonia into Albanian and Slav federal units.
The federalization plan demanded by the NLA would result in de facto
independence/secession/partition of Macedonia. The federalization
plan is modeled on the Kosovo paradigm or blueprint. NATO military
intervention and occupation of Macedonia are integral parts of the
NLA strategy. NATO intervention is required to establish de facto
partition and federalization. The model is Kosovo. With NATO intervention,
the NLA which achieve its objective to establish not "greater
rights", but a Greater Albania, the goal and objective of the
Albanian nationalist agenda for over a century. - READ MORE
GREATER ALBANIA - by Tim Judah
"New York Review of Books - The West had created a monster.
Yes, we had severed the head of Greater Serbia only to discover
that Balkan nationalism is hydra-headed. In its place we now stood
confronted by the evil specter of rabid, expansionist Albanian nationalism,
which aimed to create either a Greater Albania or at least a Greater
Kosovo.....The prerequisite to creating a Greater Kosovo including
parts of Macedonia or a Greater Albania has, of course, to be an
independent Kosovo - Tim Judah - READ MORE".
KOSOVO SERBIAN ISSUE AND THE GREATER ALBANIA PROJECT by
Slavenko Terzich - "Greater Albania" with the
leading idea "all Albanians in one state" represents not
only a belated example of the national romanticism of the 19th century,
but also questions existing internationally recognized borders,
jeopardizes stability in the whole of Southeast Europe and threatens
to cause a new, third Balkan war. The ambition to set up an ethnically
pure Greater Albania at any cost represents an even greater anachronism.
The Albanian political and intellectual elite obviously suffer from
a large deficiency of European logic.

- CANADA) KOSOVO: THE BLOODSHED CONTINUES (ANALYSIS)
Until the issue surrounding the Serb enclaves is settled, ethnic
tensions will remain. That could mean that NATO and the UN will
be bogged down in the province for years. A harsh reality -- considering
that the West is currently facing a similar problem in Iraq. Problems
could be avoided there, says Chappell, if a strong police force

It is a lesson the West was slow to learn in Kosovo -- and a mistake
that may be in the process of being repeated in Iraq.

OF THE SERBIAN PEOPLE IN KOSOVO AND METOHIJA
The problems of the Serb people of Kosovo and Metohija, who during
in the last four years have experienced an exodus, disappeared and
vanished from the region from whose bosom sprang Obilic, the brothers
Jugovic, Kosancic; the region whose land owners are the medieval
monasteries and churches that Albanian terrorists are torching and
destroying, in the hope of torching and destroying the legacy we
have guarded and protected for centuries in Bogorodica Ljeviska,
imperial Prizren, the Pec Patriarchate, Decani, here in Gracanica;
from where today we petition for protection from those who have
the full, sole and true right and responsibility to do so: our homeland,
our state.

KIM, SNC - COMPLICITY IN ETHNIC CLEANSING - Joint Statement of the
Diocese of Raska-Prizren and the SNC KIM
This attitutude on the part of the international UN mission and
KFOR represents open complicity in the process of ethnic cleansing
that for four full years since the war in the presence of peacekeeping
forces has been carried out without obstruction by Albanian extremists
building a Fascist-like and repressive society
BLIC:
STOLIC FAMILY WERE TORTURED BECAUSE THEY RESISTED
"We have no life. Mice living in mine holes live better and
are more protected that the Serbs here in Obilic. We stayed scattered
all over, a house or two in a few streets. We have become animals
suitable for testing various types of weapons such as knives and
guns. Since the arrival of KFOR in Obilic 28 Serbs have been murdered.
To this day not one of the murders has been solved and the guilty
party arrested," said Aleksandar Stolic, the cousin of murdered
Slobodan Stolic, through tears.

SERBS DOUBT DELEGATION'S MULTIETHNICITY

problems and the problem of decentralisation, issues we hear virtually
nothing about", said Milorad Todorovic

CLEANSING MUST BE STOPPED SAYS PREMIER OF SERBIA
I don't want to accuse all Albanian of this, but they have to accuse
Albanians who have the desire to cleanse Kosovo ethnically. On October
5, 2000 we washed our hands of Serbs who wanted to cleanse Kosovo
ethnically. Now we are expecting the Kosovo Albanians to do the
same, said Premier Zivkovic.

CRY
OF SERBS FROM VITINA
The Serb National
Council of Kosovo and Metohija has sent a text with the cry and
appeal of the Serbs of Vitina containing a list of violent incidents
in Kosovsko Pomoravlje. Because of the rise in violence and pressure
against the Serb population of this region, and in light of the
persistent denial of the worsening of the security situation by
U.S. KFOR and UNMIK representatives, the people of Kosovsko Pomoravlje
have no other option than to address a public appeal to the Serb
people and the Belgrade Government to ask for their help. |
